SHARED SPACES: Edra Coles-Dozier from Jean + Cook

Edra, Vintage Shop Owner.

Shared Spaces is a conversation series featuring the people that shape the world around Maslo Jewelry.

Each interview offers a look inside the places they inhabit, the objects they return to, and the stories that connect us.

Jean + Cook Shop shares Maslo’s appreciation for pieces with history, objects that feel collected, considered, and made to last. With a curated selection of vintage inspired goods and everyday essentials, the shop reflects the same timeless sensibility found in Maslo’s jewelry.

Tell us about the space you're in today.

I’m in a season where I’m starting to see the fruits of years of labor come into fruition. I’m trying to be mindful to sit with that and really take it all in. It’s confirmation that I’m on the right path and I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

What object have you kept the longest, and why has it stayed with you?

A vintage plaid wool swing coat that I thrifted in college 22 years ago. The lining needs to be replaced and many of the seams are frayed, but to me, it makes it even more beautiful. It’s so beautifully made and unique. I’ve never seen another like it.

You spend your days surrounded by beautiful things. How do you know when something is worth bringing home or into your shop?

When I spot something that I love I get butterflies in the pit of my stomach. I have to truly be drawn each piece. I think people can sense that intentionality when they come into my home or the shop.

Is there a piece of jewelry you wear almost every day? What makes it the one you continually return to?

I’ve been wearing the Pascale bangle almost everyday. It’s so stunning and goes with everything - whether I’m dressed up or dressed down.

Do you think jewelry should tell a story, or create room for one?

Both. I love the stories and history that live with vintage pieces. I also love learning the intention and inspiration behind the creation of a new piece.

What does your morning look like before the doors open? Any rituals that help you settle into the day?

I have to start slow. No rushing. Coffee and chats with my family before I leave the house, lighting candles and playing music in the shop before I open. I very particular about the energy that comes into Jean + Cook.

What makes a piece feel lived in rather than worn out?

I think it’s all about how you style it. I believe that age is beautiful, adds character and should be highlighted. An old, relaxed tee can look really nice paired with tailored trousers and the right accessories.

If you could inherit the collection of one person, who would it be?

That’s easy, Solange.

Is there a jewelry material you're endlessly drawn to?

Gold. I think there is something so regal about it.

Is there a common thread between what you love in a piece of jewelry and what you love in a vintage item?

With both vintage and jewelry I’m drawn to unique pieces that are timeless and well-made. Pieces that make everyday moments feel special.
